If you are like me, then you don’t have a printer or a scanner.
A printer costs too much to maintain. Who wants to be dealing with the ink running out all the time – not to mention the expense?!?
Then you have the scanner which is a bulky piece of equipment that would take up too much room on my desk and since I’m always on the go it would be hard to pack. Can you imagine going through airport security?
TSA: “Sir, what’s this?”
Me: “Oh that’s just my scanner. I carry that with me just in case I need to scan something. You just never know when you’ll need it.”
TSA: (Side-eyeing me) “Ok.” (thinking: I’ve seen weirder things. To each his own I guess!)
Not a good look right there.
So, how do I print or scan something?
If I need to print I’ll head to the UPS store since that’s where my mail comes anyways and I can kill two birds with one stone.
When it comes to scanning though, I got that covered and you will too from the comfort of your home, office, car, plane, wherever. The only piece of equipment you need is a smartphone and one of these two apps:
1. Evernote – Free to paid
2. Scanner Pro – $3.99
Both are great apps! Of course, there are a ton of other apps but these are the ones I use. You can check them out below.

When you’re using an alternate (to traditional scanners) keep in mind that you want good lighting and a clean background. Using Evernote or Scanner Pro will actually produce a scan similar to a copy which is why I suggest these two. You may need to upgrade to the paid accounts for certain things but you will cross that bridge when you come to it.
